Concerto Scholarship Concert

The Woodbridge Flute Choir, directed by Debbie Gilbert and assisted by Lisa Sheldone, will present A Little Latin Music, featuring its 10th annual Concerto Scholarship winner, Vivian Yuan.  Admission is free.


Vivian Yuan is an 11th grader at Richard Montgomery High School and studies flute with Susan Brandt. She will receive a scholarship award of $500 to be used toward her music studies and will perform the Grand Polonaise in D Major, Opus 16 by Theobald Boehm with the Flute Choir.


The concert will also feature original works written for flute choir inspired by Latin music. The choir will play Flute Fandango by Sonny Burnette,  Flautista (which includes a Samba, Mambo and Bolero) by John W. N. Palmer, Mr. Sanchez by Peter Senchuk, and Fireflies by Ladd McIntosh.  The group will also play Oblivion and Libertango by Astor Piazzolla and arranged by Mel Orriss and Gareth McLearnon, The Girl from Ipanema by Antonio Carlos Jobim and arranged by Kelly Via plus Tico,Tico by Irving Drake, Albysio Oliveria and Zequinha Abreu, arranged for flute choir by Trevor Wye.
